The Evaluation Process

Dr. Pio Andreotti conducts  neuropsychological evaluations for learning disabilities, attention  deficits, memory disorders, and clinical disorders.

These  evaluations focus on identifying an individual’s strengths.  The  findings are used to formulate strategies for remediation.  These  strategies will capitalize on the child's strengths in the least  restrictive environment.

Dr. Andreotti integrates existing laws, such as the Individuals with  Disabilities Act (IDEA), with current research on neuropsychological  functioning.

Dr. Andreotti follows a Best Practices model, utilizing  state-of-the-art, research validated assessment measures to provide a  comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s needs. Each battery  is individualized based on the specific referral.

A typical neuropsychological assessment contains the following components:

  • Clinical Interview with parent and child
  • Review of school records
  • Measures of:
    • Intelligence
    • Academic Achievement
    • Executive Functioning
    • Memory
    • Language
    • Visual-Spatial
    • Motor (including grapho-motor testing)
    • Behavioral
  • Feedback Session
  • Consultation with the referring agency (if applicable)

A comprehensive  neuropsychological assessment focuses on identifying the underlying  psychological processes that may account for a learning disability.  The  findings are used in the diagnosis of learning disabilities as  described by IDEA and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual: Fifth Edition  (DSM-V).

In  addition to evaluations for learning disabilities, Dr. Andreotti also  provides assessments for autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Dr.  Andreotti uses the Autism Diagnostic Observation System, Second Edition (ADOS-2), the  Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and the Social Communication  Questionnaire (SCQ).
